COURSE DESCRIPTION This interactive two day course has been designed for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, oncology nurses, and healthcare professionals involved in cancer care. General practitioners (internal medicine and family medicine) will have the benefit of a review of the standard of care and new developments in breast, gynecological, and lung cancer screening and therapy. Residents in training and fellows from these specialties are encouraged to attend. There will be small group interactive special sessions devoted to genetics, radiologic techniques, and diagnostic biopsy steps, pathological concepts, as well as standard and novel therapy. There will be emphasis on molecular diagnosis and individualization of cancer therapy based on state of the art molecular phenotypes. Participants in the meeting will have the opportunity to learn the most recent management in these areas, while having small group discussions and personal interaction with experts in the field. COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: • Describe the epidemiology, genetic risk assessment, and pathology of breast cancer • Recognize the latest therapeutic strategies for breast, gynecological, and colon cancer in women • Identify current strategies in the systemic therapies for women with breast, gynecological, and lung cancer • Recognize strategies for innovative research and future treatment of patients with breast, gynecologic and lung cancer • Identify biospecimen testing options including pathology and next generation gene sequencing • Demonstrate knowledge of clinical care through case discussion Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. CANCELLATION POLICY If you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by Mayo School of CPD on or before Friday, February 7, 2014 ( or fax#: 904-956-3096). No refunds will be made after Friday, February 7, 2014. Canceled registrations are non-transferable. Mayo School of CPD reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances.
