  2. 2. GENERAL INFORMATION The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute’s Center for Vascular Disease is pleased to invite you to The Arthur C. Nielsen, Jr. Vascular Conference on Thursday, September 13th at the Prentice Women’s Hospital Conference Center. This half-day event is a clinically oriented program with case-based discussions about the management of patients with vascular disease. The afternoon will consist of lively discussion about management decisions that are encountered in the everyday care of patients with vascular disease. This year’s focus will include the latest information on lipids, treatments for diseases of the aorta and how targeted imaging technologies can guide vascular care. Learning Objectives | At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to: • Review best practice guidelines for the diagnosis and management of metabolic disorders • Discuss the most recent medical options available to prevent thromboembolism in patients with aortic fibrillation • Design a strategy for the diagnosis and management of patients with bicuspid aortic valve and aortic root disease • Evaluate surgical approaches to aortic disease including patient selection criteria and timing of referral • Evaluate options for the medical management of patients with thoracic aortic aneurysms • Review therapeutic approaches for the patient with resistant hypertension • Compare and contrast the utility and limitations of non invasive imaging techniques in aortic diseaseTarget AudienceThis continuing medical education (CME) program is designed to meet the educational needs of primary carepractitioners, family medicine and vascular medicine physicians, cardiologists, neurologists, interventionalradiologists, endocrinologists, nurses and nurse practitioners, physician assistants and health care professionals caringfor patients with vascular disease.Conference LocationThe program will be held at Prentice Women’s Hospital, located in the Conference Room on the third floor at 250 E.Superior Street, Chicago, Illinois.
