Guatemala british interest in inter oceanic corridor

  1. 1. Página 1 de 1 GUATEMALA: BRITISH INTEREST IN INTER-OCEANIC CORRIDOR 13/08/2013 UK Entrepreneurs are considering whether to invest in the inter-oceanic corridor project in Guatemala. According to statements (confirmed by CentralAmericaData.COM) by the British Ambassador in Guatemala, Sarah Dickson, "British companies are going to see the opportunities offered by connecting the Pacific with the Atlantic in this way." The project "is very much in line with our G8 presidency (Germany, Canada, the USA, France, Italy, Japan, the UK and Russia), it is a way to use global trade and we are very interested." "We have, first, investment funds and companies that have experience in infrastructure and design," the diplomat added. Although there is no exact amount, the British will decide in which part of the work to invest, be that the railway, pipeline or road. The project "is important for Asia, North America and Europe (...), therefore there are investors who will come because of the geographical position of the country, and others, because of the strategic positioning of their regions," said Guillermo Catalan, chairman of the board of the Inter- Oceanic Corridor. He added that the investment of $9 billion will be made in parts, as investors initially would have to finance the land and the official procedures and in the second phase of the project infrastructure will be put in place.
