Provide a broad approach to defining the ‘public health workforce’ that focuses on the specific roles
Collate workforce data on a national level
Indicate the areas of responsibility for recruitment, education and training
Create a national ‘map’ of the overall workforce that illustrates the key numbers, definitions, roles and areas of responsibilities, where known
This definition was drafted in consultation with our commissioners at PHE, HEE and DH.
