Introduction to Nablus <ul><li>A Palestinian city </li></ul><ul><li>The largest West Bank city </li></ul><ul><li>Located between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim </li></ul><ul><li>A major economic, political, and cultural center for Palestinians </li></ul><ul><li>Famous of its old mosques, natural springs and food products especially sweets </li></ul>

History of Nablus <ul><li>An old historic Canaanite city, founded almost 6500 years back </li></ul><ul><li>Its first name was Shekem </li></ul><ul><li>The Romans rebuilt the city and gave it a new name, Neapolis </li></ul><ul><li>The name was changed to Nablus at the time of Islamic rule </li></ul><ul><li>The city was ruled by many empires </li></ul><ul><li>It was occupied by Israel during the 1967 War </li></ul>

Location of Nablus <ul><li>Located in the northern part of the West Bank </li></ul><ul><li>Located between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim </li></ul><ul><li>Approximately 63 kilometers north of Jerusalem </li></ul><ul><li>Bounded by Jenin from the north, Tulkarm from the west, Ramallah and Jericho from the south and the Jordan River from the east </li></ul>

Traditional Food <ul><li>Nablus is home to a number of well-known food products especially sweets </li></ul><ul><li>Kunafah is the most famed Nabulsi sweet </li></ul><ul><li>Other famous Nabulsi sweets include: </li></ul><ul><li>Baklawa, </li></ul><ul><li>Qatayef, </li></ul><ul><li>Tamriyyeh, </li></ul><ul><li>Halaweh & Zalabiyeh, and </li></ul><ul><li>Awwameh </li></ul>
