Puerto Bolivar is Ecuador's second largest port and is a key hub for banana exports to Europe. It has strategic access to international shipping lanes near the Panama Canal. Recent infrastructure projects have expanded the port's docks, equipment, storage capacity and land transport connections. The chief operations officer of a local agriculture company believes Puerto Bolivar will have a promising future if authorities continue modernizing operations and increasing capacity to handle more trade and remain competitive globally.

18. • 1. ¿What is your opinion about Puerto Bolívar?
• Puerto Bolivar has become a national economic zone because
from this place Ecuador exports seven million banana boxes to
Europe, and worldwide.
•
• 2. Regarding the other ports in Ecuador, ¿What do you
think are the advantages of Puerto Bolívar?
• The main advantage of Puerto Bolivar is that it has a shorter
entrance access than the other ports of the country, also there
is less traffic jam and the internal operations of the port are
faster.
19. • 3. If you had the chance ¿What would you change or add
to Puerto Bolivar?
• I would buy more land in order to have more space and
infrastructure, and also buy new technology to become faster
so we can compete with the biggest Ports all over the world.
El Oro has a lot of commerce and it will be profitable for the
economy of Ecuador.
• 4. ¿What do you think is the future of Puerto Bolivar?
• It will depend in the authorities and local businesses to
improve the capacity and general operations of the Port,
however nowadays the port has completed some projects in
order to have better roads for a direct access and more
capacity in warehouses, so Puerto Bolivar would have a good
future if they have constant innovation projects.
