Fusion energy

 1. 1. Fusion Energy
2. 2. What is Fusion energy?
Fusion is the combination of two atomic nuclei to release a massive amount of energy.
Fusion energy is traditionally done by the combination of Deuterium and tritium, two isotopes of hydrogen.
3. 3. Theoretical Fusion reactor
4. 4. Negatives of Fusion Power
Fusion Energy has been attempted since the 1950’s with no success so far.
Total cost to the U.S. government alone has been 20 billion dollars on research.
Takes an extreme amount of heat for the reaction to occur.
Like any nuclear energy, produces radioactive waste.
5. 5. Fusion energy compared to fossil fuels
Fusion power is a clean way to produce energy, unlike fossil fuels that produce carbon dioxide and nitrogen dioxide
6. 6. Fusion Vs Fission
=
