ISTE Powerpoint

 1. 1. Student Performance Indicators at a Glance By: Masha Zubkis NETS for Students Grade Levels 3-5
 2. 2. 1. Produce a media-rich digital story about a significant local event based on first-person interviews. (1,2,3,4)

It would be great to have students interview people in their neighborhood about the 2007 San Diego Wildfires.

Then have them find pictures from the fires and take pictures of the people to create a presentation using power-point, after a teacher led lesson on power-point.

 3. 3. 2. Use digital-imaging technology to modify or create works of art for use in a digital presentation. (1,2,6)

I would like to create a classroom zoo with my students by having them create images of an animal using ABC Drawing School I-Animals, which can be downloaded for free on (If you click on the picture it will take directly to download page).

After students create their animal images, they will use Word to create a newsletter about their animal with the image on their newsletter.

 4. 4. 4. Select and apply digital tools to collect, organize, and analyze data to evaluate theories or test hypotheses. (3,4,6)

I would have students create a five question survey for their classmates (I.e. favorite ice cream flavor, etc) and make a prediction about the results.

Then I would have students enter this information into Microsoft excel and create data tables and graphs.

 5. 5. 7. Conceptualize, guide, and manage individual or group learning projects using digital planning tools with teacher support. (4,6)

I would like to see students learn about business, so I would have them get into groups and create a business idea (I.e. Pizza shop) and plan out all the ingredients and resources they will need by doing research online.

Then I would have them use Excel and other digital planning tools to create graphs and charts for a presentation to the class on how they would open and run their business.
