  1. 1. Find eBooks on Ebook Central (formerly EBL) Jen Eidelman March 2016 (updated by Mary Shelton August 2019)
  2. 2. • http://www.lib.uct.ac.za • Mouse over ‘Search & Find’ • Click on ‘Databases (A-Z)’
  3. 3. • http://www.lib.uct.ac.za • Choose ‘E’ from the A-Z list
  4. 4. Click on ‘Ebook Central’
  5. 5. You will be automatically signed in using your institution login
  6. 6. • Once you have created your account, type in the name of the book in the search box • Click ‘Search’
  7. 7. Click on title
  8. 8. • Read online • Download the whole book for up to 5 days • Download a chapter • You will need to download ‘Adobe Digital Editions’ on your computer to read the book offline.
  9. 9. Install ‘Adobe Digital Editions’ before downloading
  10. 10. Adobe Digital Editions will prompt you for a Vendor Login ID Check the box that prompts you to authorize your computer without an ID.
  11. 11. Follow the steps until your computer has been authorized to read the eBook. Click OK.
  12. 12. Adobe Digital Editions will open. Wait a few minutes for the book to start downloading on to your computer.
  13. 13. The book is downloaded into Adobe Digital Editions
  14. 14. Chapter download
  15. 15. • eBooks can also be found in UCT Libraries’ Catalogue (ALEPH) • Click on the link to the eBook platform. • Follow the steps in the previous slides to access the book once you have clicked on the link.
