CATALONIA The political and administrative context<br />Catalonia: 4 provinces and 7,3 millions inhabitants<br />Catalonia is the only Autonomous Community that gathers all the competences transferred on the subject of juvenile justice, penitentiary administration and police.<br />The Criminal Code and the Penitentiary Law they are the same ones in all the State but there is two penitentiary administrations completely independent: the one of Spain and the one of Catalonia<br />Catalonia has created an agency, the SSPRJJ, with the mission of:<br />taking care of the execution of sentences and measures on the whole population (adults as well as minors) <br />offering technical advice to the judiciary, <br />victim-offender mediation programs and victim protection offices services and of attention to the victim.<br />The SSPRJJ is organized in two directions general:DG of Resources and Penitentiary RegimeDG of Penal Execution in the Community and of Juvenile Justice<br />

  14. 14. WHO WE ARE?<br /><ul><li>A center of studies and training linked to the Department of justice of the Autonomic government.

  16. 16. 14.000 hours of training.</li></ul>We work for the department of justice (Courts and penitentiary Services), with 15.000 employees.<br /><ul><li>For the area of Penitentiary Services, we take care of the initial training and the continuous training.
  17. 17. The center (CEJFE) has a staff of 50 workers and an annual budget of 6 million Euros.</li></li></ul><li>What have we made in Knowledge Management?<br /><ul><li>In the last 4 years (2006-2009) we have developed a communities of practice program.
  18. 18. For us a community of practice is a group of professionals who work for voluntary decision in a project that pretends to elaborate new knowledge.
  19. 19. This new knowledge has to be useful for the activities of the Department.</li></li></ul><li>Why we do this program?<br /><ul><li>Fashion....? Social web.
