  7. 7. They were both young mulatto slaves who were living in Mexico in 17th century
  8. 8. Gertrudis de Escobar was born around 1644.
  9. 9. Both of Gertrudis parents died leaving her and her brothers behind
  10. 10. She was put to work as a servant in Mexico City
  11. 11. She was also beaten many times by the nuns for misbehaving
  12. 12. Didn’t believe in god so was sent to work on sugar plantations
  13. 13. She was treated really bad and never got away from anything
  14. 14. She always got punished and beat
  15. 15. Determined to be free at the end</li></li></ul><li>Opechancanough<br /><ul><li>Born in (1554-1646) and was a tribal chief of the Powhatan Confederacy of what is now Virginia in the United States
  16. 16. Trained from boyhood to be the leader of the Powhatans in war and peace
  17. 17. The Powhatan ruled the largest inified chiefdom
  18. 18. He was humiliated after they stole his wife in both 1608 and 1612
  19. 19. There was a peace agreement
  20. 20. Opechancanough was killed by a soldier, who shot him in the back while assigned to guard him</li></li></ul><li> Cristobal Bequer<br />Jacob Young<br /><ul><li>He was born in Lima in 1693
  21. 21. In the mid 17th century he was implicated in a murder
  22. 22. He false documents that he wanted to become a priest at a church
  23. 23. At the end he was caught and chargers were brought against him for misconduct of a priest
  24. 24. Appears in history as a Dutch soldier named Jacob Claeson
  25. 25. In the mid 17th century he came to New Netherlands
  26. 26. He had some very good businesses that he created and traded with the Indians
  27. 27. Spend his time trading and creating his new home
  28. 28. Jacob became an Englishmen that's why he changed his name to Jacob Young </li></li></ul><li>Thomas Peters<br /><ul><li>He was twenty-two years old and lived in Nigeria
  29. 29. Thomas was captured by the African Slave Traders
  30. 30. He was sold and transported to a ship
  31. 31. He would get whipped and had coals put on their lips
  32. 32. Many people died because of the beaten that they got
  33. 33. Thomas was married man that lived with his wife and kids
  34. 34. He was later after the war send to New York and from there to Nova Scotia
  35. 35. Then died a couple years later searching for his freedom</li>
