The 70% factoid is dramatic but not accurate: What should be stated is: “2/3 of US inmates are functionally illiterate” Perhaps with an “*” at the bottom of the page with a bit of clarifying info. I know we want to keep it simple…but this is a complex and critical concept and most people don’t get its significance. It is the crux of our entire argument justifying PP. ALSO, I would insert an additional companion page following this—showing the following: “Only one out of 8 US adults reads well enough to understand our Constitution” This is important to link to the prison stats because it shows the problem is much more endemic to the entire US population.
I would add a stat and image that shows how important Poetry is to the current youth culture. A tricky stat to establish or find but worth hunting or creating it ourselves.
Correct the 4th line: “Supportive community of 100,000 poets” We say earlier “85,000” poets, why 83,000 poets here?
What does the graph at the bottom show? Not visits per month…Sorta looks like each dot represents one week’s visits. If so we should clarify this.
Our team looks pretty damn white….does is make sense to include a couple of rows of smaller photos of the rest of our team (mentors and interns)?
Should we state that there are other more tailored sponsorship opportunities possible as well, in case sponsors have ideas of their own about how to access our community? The color palette for this graphic is Red and Black. Personally, I like this but is there any reason we cannot add other colors like blue and green???
