  1. 1. Whats a comic?Comic (from the Greek κωμικός, kōmikos "of orpertaining to comedy") denotes a hybrid mediumhaving words tightly tied to its visual aspect inorder to convey narrative or information
  2. 2. Comics in the 20th centuryThroughout the 20th century the comic was considered as one of the main social and cultural ways of reivindication. the evening standard, 27th september 1930
  3. 3. The comic quickly became a symbol of rebellionand nonconformism. Later, many artists startedcreatig different stories all over the world, as weknow today. Alfred Newman The Yellow Kid (1886)
  4. 4. This became a great success in America. Thats the reason why many artists worldwide copied Alfred Newman and made their own comics. But in Japan they had started drawing ages before. In 1810 Katshushika Hokusai had created the Manga genre, man (involuntary) and ga (picture)
  5. 5. Nowadays this genre is considered as one of the most important ones. Since its creation in 1810, it has sold billions of comics all over the world, and it has been translated into 200 languages. Ogon bat Kimba, the white lion Astro boy 1921 1945 1939
