  3. 3. Who is Calatrava?<br /> He is a really famous Spanish architect, sculptor and structural engineer<br />Offices<br /> His head office is in Zürich, Switzerland, but he also has offices in Paris, Valencia and New York<br />
  4. 4. Studies<br />In Valencia, he studied at the Architecture, Arts and Crafts School. <br />After his graduation in 1975, he went to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich to study civil engineering. He finished in 1981.<br />

  6. 6. The start<br /> At the start of his career he designed bridges and train stations<br />
  7. 7. Montjuic Communications Tower<br />The Montjuic Communications Tower in Barcelona is one of his first works. The white tower was built for Telefónica to broadcast the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona to the world. <br />The 136 m structure represents an athlete holding the Olympic Flame.<br />

  9. 9. What is he doing now?<br />At present Calatrava is designing the future train station for the new World Trade Centre in New York.<br />Style<br />His style is unique and derives from studies of the human body and the natural world.<br />
