Analysing a music video

 1. 1. Analysing a music video
Take That –
Patience
2. 2. The song
The song released on November 13, 2006.
It was their debut song from their comeback album ‘Beautiful World’.
The single reached no.1 in many countries around Europe as well as reaching the top 10 in other European countries.
The song is written and sung in the first person and is telling the audience a story.
It is a song in the pop genre.
3. 3. Performance
The video was filmed in Iceland.
The members of the band are on a route, as if they are trying to find their way in life.
We see Gary Barlow singing a few times throughout the video, with close ups on his face
4. 4. We see all members of the band on their journey and when they all meet each other, we see the live performance.
The band are standing at thetop of the cliff. They don’tdance in the video, they justsing.
The video is like the story of the band on their comeback; as if they are telling their fans to ‘Have a little patience’
5. 5. Technical Aspects – Mise-En-Scene
All four band members are on their own as if they are on their own path to finding something special.
They are wearing casual clothing, which will attract a large audience. Their clothing are everyday things that ordinary people would wear.
The band appeal to a wide audience, they are popular from their old days as a five-piece and would attract an older audience as well as their new music attracting a younger audience.
The band look like they are going about something they have to do as if it is a story in their life. They have serious facial expressions, suggesting determination, whether this be determination to succeed in their comeback, or succeeding in being patient.
Natural lighting is used in this video, showing how long it took them to find each other, this could also suggest the many years that it took for the band to re-form and record their new album.
