  2. 2. Santa Claus or St. Nick? Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle or simply Santa. He is described as the fat man who brings gifts on Christmas Eve December 24. One legend about Santa says that he lives in the far north, in a land of snow. The American version of Santa Claus lives at the North Pole, while Father Christmas is said to reside in Lapland. He is also known to be married to Mrs. Claus who also lives at the north pole.

Songs have been written about this fat, jolly man like ‘Jolly old st Nicolas’ and ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’. He apparently rides in a sleigh pulled by reindeer. He also is said to check a long list of all the children in the world twice seeing if they have been naughty or nice.
