2. Mickey Callaway Fired as New York Mets Manager
Marc Rovner is an East Rockaway, New York-based attorney who has won multiple awards for his
legal work and volunteer efforts, including a 2017, 2018 and 2019 Silver Client Champion award
from Martindale-Hubbell and the 2012 Five Towns Community Chest Award for Community
Service. Outside of his legal work and philanthropy, Attorney Marc Rovner with over 31 years of
being a lawyer under his belt is a passionate fan of Major League Baseball's New York Mets.
3. Mickey Callaway Fired as New York Mets Manager
After only two seasons at the helm of the club, the Mets fired manager Mickey Callaway on
October 3. A 44-year-old native of Memphis, Tennessee, Callaway was hired by New York in
October 2017 following the retirement of Terry Collins, who spent the prior seven seasons as the
team's manager. New York posted a win-loss record of 77-85 during Callaway's first year as
manager and, while it improved to 86-76 this past season, the team failed to make the playoffs for
the third consecutive year.
4. Mickey Callaway Fired as New York Mets Manager
Mets General Manage Brodie Van Wagenen, in a statement, thanked Callaway for his dedication
over the past two seasons, but acknowledged the decision was the right move for the organization
at the time. Callaway had no managing experience prior to being hired by the Mets, but served five
seasons as a pitching coach for the Cleveland Indians. Six other teams, including the Chicago
Cubs and Kansas City Royals, fired their managers following the end of the 2019 MLB regular
season.
