Marcela Kane Lantrip was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to Bogota, Columbia, where she earned a law degree from the Universidad del Rosario in 1997. Marcela Kane Lantrip then earned her Master in Laws in Taxation from the Universidad del Rosario in 1998, as well as from the University of Houston in 2000.
