  6. 6. Consumer Data Use Trends  Cisco anticipates global mobile traffic will increase by about a 92.3% compounded annual growth rate, with a run rate of 75 Exabytes per year by 2015. It predicts that worldwide data traffic will grow from 25 to 26 fold by 2016.  Nielsen reports that over 12 months, the amount of data the average smartphone user consumes per month has grown by 89% from 230 Megabytes (MB) in Q1 2010 to 435 MB in Q1 2011. Mobile data traffic worldwide is exploding in operator networks, but this has not translated to a commensurate increase in ARPU. Growing data ARPU by offering attractive content services, smartphones, and market-specific plans becomes critical for revenue and for churn control.BROADBAND WIRELESS INTELLIGENCE © Copyright All Rights Reserved 2011 Maravedis Inc.www.maravedis-bwa.com
  7. 7. Quarterly Churn Rate Q1 2011 Source: Maravedis 4GCountsQuarterly Report July 2011 Churn rates are flattening. Operators need to capture the profitable consumers before competitors.BROADBAND WIRELESS INTELLIGENCE © Copyright All Rights Reserved 2011 Maravedis Inc.www.maravedis-bwa.com
  8. 8. Challenges for operators  Digital content and services that are integrated, flexible and profitable  Quick and timely network deployments  Cost effective network solutions  Real time monitoring  Competitive offerings  Policy control and converged subscriber management  Partner integrationBROADBAND WIRELESS INTELLIGENCE © Copyright All Rights Reserved 2011 Maravedis Inc.www.maravedis-bwa.com
  9. 9. Summary  IP data is changing operator business and network demands  Digital proliferation of new content and services on increasingly connected screens requires integrated but flexible offerings to be profitable  Increasingly diverse market sectors’ (teens to enterprise) purchasing patterns and wallets demand a new, higher level of subscriber management  Planning the new network for the new consumer places increased emphasis on uniform platform solutionsBROADBAND WIRELESS INTELLIGENCE 11 © Copyright All Rights Reserved 2011 Maravedis Inc.www.maravedis-bwa.com
