  3. 4. The 2 nd Term of Presidency (1917-1921) <ul><li>6 April 1917 the USA engaged in the WWW I. Th at day he delivered his historic speech to Congress . </li></ul><ul><li>Wilson didn’t support any belligerent country but aimed “to declare the war to stop other wars”. </li></ul><ul><li>The President formu lated Fourteen Points to Congress on January 8, 1918. The Points were war aims that became the basis for the Treaty of Versailles . </li></ul>
  4. 5. <ul><li>For his peace-making efforts Wilson was awarded t he Nobel Peace Prize however, he failed to win US Congress support for ratification. The United States never joined the League of Nations. </li></ul><ul><li>He spent six months in Paris at the Paris Peace Conference (making him the first U.S. president to travel to Europe). He worked tirelessly to promote his plan. </li></ul>

After-war period <ul><li>Wilson didn’t pay attention to demobilization so it caused a lot of social problems. </li></ul><ul><li>Stresses connected with his work influenced his health badly, Wilson died on February 3, 1924 , was buried in Washington National Cathedral . He is the only president buried in Washington DC. </li></ul>
