  16. 16. BE PREPARED Know your market • Especially at the interview • Know your customers and competitors
 better than anyone Prepare your facts • The most 
 important insights about your business How do you make 
 money? • Know how you will make it or find it • Know what you’ll do with it • CAC vs LTV is usually important • It’s okay to do 
 things that don’t 
 scale at the beginning! Think about 
 traction/validation This applies to both your pitch & interview
  17. 17. PITCH STYLE Be enthusiastic • Preferably very
 enthusiastic Where is your team? • Preferably in the room • Preferably silent after intros • Probably worse speakers than you Keep it simple! • Don’t give me options • Don’t attack me with data Be knowledgable • Especially about your market & customers or beneficiaries • Avoid anecdotes/ buzz words Ditch the script! • Avoid cue cards • Avoid video • Keep it succinct Deck-to-speech ratio • Can distract the audience
