  2. 2. What is Online Shopping?Online shopping or online retailing is a form of electronic commerce whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller over the internet without an intermediary service.

Introduction of online shopping Online shopping are Business to Consumer(B2C) business of selling. First online system started by Germen company Intershop introduce in 1994 and in 1995 Amazon launched its online shopping site. Online shopper commonly use credit card to make payments but some of them use mobile billing, Cash on Delivery, Cheque, Debit Card, Postal Money order etc. The largest online Retailing corporations are EBay & both of which are US-based.

Cont…… There are 875 million consumers worldwide, who have shopped on the web. 85% internet users have shop online. Most of e-shoppers hail from South Korea with first numbers and German, UK, Japanese consumers comes second in online shopping in the world Egypt consumers are lowest adopter of online shopping(67% Egypt online population never purchase online) In India 29% internet users shops online

Growth of Online Shopping There are over 70000 new websites put on the internet every hour and internet traffic doubling every three months so thousands of online shopping sites on internet. 60% of all Indian internet users visited a Online Ecommerce site in November 2011, with the number of online shoppers increasing 18 percent in the past year.

Online Shopping in India The E-commerce market in India was estimated to be Rs. 19,688 crore in 2009 and is expected to grow to Rs. 37,000 crore this year. Half the Indian consumers (50%) use social media sites to help them make online purchase decisions. Online reviews and opinions are most important for Indians when buying Consumer Electronics (57%), Software (50%), and a Car (47%). More than four in ten Indians are more likely to share negative product or service experience in online shopping.

Conclusion In India Online Shopping growing day by day but public much not interested due to security reason. In Online shopping people can not try or test before purchase any visible product. In India online Shopping sites focus on particular target market. Online shopping direct customer relationship easily happen. In India most people prefer traditional shopper compare to online shopping.
