Helpful people. Fun & good learning experience – That’s how I would summarize my internship experience at Redbus. I had the opportunity to pick from six different startups for the summer internship, but I chose Redbus. Because I wanted to work for a company that solves our day-to-day problems and a company that’s doing reasonably well. If you’re workaholic, you can proactively pick up new tasks everyday and start working on them right away. Officially, I wasn’t assigned any mentor, but people around were kind and capable enough to help me when I was stuck. There was no designated person to solve a particular issue, anyone could pick up and work on it. I really liked that. That’s the way startups work. When you work for a startup, you should be “proactive and fanatic”. And what’s not so awesome I think the administration needs some improvement and it needs to become more transparent. I did take that up with my manager there. However, I think the period of 6 months as an intern isn’t sufficient to make further judgments about the company. Startups for internships Since I planned to become a back-end developer, I didn’t want to take up front-end stack work. But my work at Redbus required me to take up tasks in different stacks, sometimes plain front-end work. After the internship got over, I realized that you need to take up everything coming to your plate and work on it. Later you can figure out what works best for you.
