Need for Radio Trunking for cross country pipelines Secured & independent means of communication dedicated for operational use. A system which can be used in Hazardous area. Non-availability of cellular services in some remote cross country locations. Dependency on other cellular service providers. Instant connectivity with the concerned location and faster emergency response.

Basic specifications for Radio Trunking in Mundra Delhi Pipeline of HPCL• To provide radio trunking communication between : • Vehicle mobile to vehicle mobile • Hand held ( IS & non-IS ) to Vehicle mobile. • Hand held to fixed subscribers connected to EPABX’s • Mobile to fixed subscribers connected to EPABX’s • Hand held to Hand held• To achieve +/- 20 km span of wireless communication on either side of IP/SV location.• To interface VHF with OFC based Telecom system.

Features of Radio trunking implemented for Mundra Delhi Pipeline of HPCL A private call can be made i.e. one to one communication. Possible to make group call i.e. communication among a group. Telephone interconnect is available i.e. call between landline & Radio. Emergency call i.e. override of any call in network for handling operational emergency. Multigroup calling can be made i.e. addressing to many group at any given point of time. Dynamic site assignment i.e. optimum resource allocation of network for communication of Radio. Can be used while roaming anywhere in pipeline route i.e. any radio can be used along the pipeline network. Ensure call continuity i.e. call doesn’t drop when moving from one tower to another tower.

Benefits of Radio Trunking system for pipelines It is a wireless dedicated private network throughout the length of the pipeline. It provides round the clock seamless communication between security personnel at remote location along the entire route of pipeline to control room for enhanced pipeline security. We can have customized wireless private network among security personnel & control room along the route as per operational requirement. Being a dedicated private network, Hence no dependency on service providers.

Steps for implementation of Radio trunking To obtain pairs of frequencies from WPC as per site requirements. To obtain SACFA clearance for towers height. Interfacing of OFC with VHF Radio’s. Construction of towers for installing the antenna. Installation of base station / repeaters. Battery banks & chargers for back up.
