Research Procedure
This research is focused on developing a 3D finite element model of
functionally graded femoral prostheses to decrease stress shielding and to
improve total hip replacement performance. In order to promote cell
scaffolding, CAD models were designed of 5*5*5 truncated octahedron having
different pore size. The models having different pore size was arranged
differently in a specific pattern so that it can be analysed and conclusions can be
drawn out of it. Strain energy, total deformation and von Mises stresses were
determined in all the models.

Research Procedure This research is focused on developing a 3D finite element model of functionally graded femoral prostheses to decrease stress shielding and to improve total hip replacement performance. In order to promote cell scaffolding, CAD models were designed of 5*5*5 truncated octahedron having different pore size. The models having different pore size was arranged differently in a specific pattern so that it can be analysed and conclusions can be drawn out of it. Strain energy, total deformation and von Mises stresses were determined in all the models.
