Leading (MARKETING 11)

  1. 1.  Leading is another of the basic function within the management process.  “Leading is the use of influence to motivate employees to achieve organizational goals” (Richard Draft)  Managers must be able to make employees want to participate in achieving an organization’s goals.
  2. 2.  Motivating Employees  Influencing Employees  Forming Effective Groups The leading process helps the organization move toward goal attainment.
  3. 3.  There is an oft-repeated saying that a “manager” is not necessarily a leader. Many managers find themselves in their positions because of exemplary performance in “follower” positions or even due to longevity and loyalty to their enterprise.Whether this is in fact true or not, the managers in leadership positions have ample opportunity to build their character traits.
  4. 4. LEADERS  Orchestrate important change effectively  Create a vision and direct path toward the vision  Empower and motivate personnel MANAGING  Deal with day-to- day organization complexities  Engage in planning and budgeting routines  Structure the organization
  5. 5.  Involves a manager spending time connecting with his or her employees on an interpersonal level.  This goes beyond simply managing task; rather,it involves communicating openly with employees,motivating employees toward higher levels of productivity.
  6. 6.  Inspiring employees to be creative and innovative,and couraging employees to achiever their goals.  Not all managers are leaders.An employee will follow a manager’s directions for doing a job because he or she has to, but an employee will voluntarily follow the directions of a leader because he or she believes in who is the leader is as person and
  7. 7.  In what the leader stands for as well as the manner in which he or she is inspired by the leader.  A successful leader inspires followers,increase morale and courages effective communication between employee.
