The pitch is for a romantic comedy film called "10 things" that will be produced and distributed by Sony. The film follows a teenage girl who moves in with her boyfriend for a year and documents their life together on her phone camera while lying to her parents. Key events unfold throughout their time living together and attending parties. The target audience is females ages 15-25 who will relate to the story. Marketing strategies include social media, a 30 second teaser trailer 3 months before release, and a 2-2.5 minute trailer 1 month before. The unique selling point is that it blends the romance and comedy genres in a documentary format.
4. Narrative
The narrative for our film is about a teenage girl
who moves in with her boyfriend for a year and
decides to document it on her camera phone.
They do this because her parents have moved
away to a different part of the country. But in
order to be allowed to stay she must lie to her
parents about her living situation via email.
Whilst the two girls are living together 10 key
events happen throughout this time during their
everyday life and continuous parties.
5. Iconography
• The main elements of iconography in our film
is the fact that the genre is a romcom so
therefore we would have a couple to show the
romantic side of the genre.
• We want the film to have a bright feel to it
throughout to give a happy and light hearted
feel to it.
6. Marketing Influences
• Twitter and Facebook: this will be used to
spread the word on social media and get
our target audience aware of the film.
• Teaser trailer: this will be released 3 months
before film release this will contain around
30 seconds of footage from the film
• Trailer: released 1 month before film release
and is normally between 2-2.5 minutes.
Played in cinema and film adverts.
7. Unique Selling Point
• The unique selling point of this film is that it is
a hybrid of the genres romance, comedy in a
documentary format.
• Target audience will be able to relate to the
story line.
• Target audience will envy the characters.
8. Target Audience
• Our potential target audience for our film would be a female
audience of teenagers and young adults ranging from ages 15-
25.
• This group of people will relate to the film as female are most
likely to be interested in the plot line of this film.
• We research films with a
similar theme and looked at
the target audience statistics.
This helped us come up with
our target audience for our
film.
9. Teaser ideas
• For the teaser we want to contain some of the
main parts but not give away the story line
completely.
• The sound that we are going to use is up beat
and that teenagers would listen to.
• The footage that we will use is going to be
filmed of a iPhone camera as it is a
documented film.
• We show two different sides to the girls life.
10. Poster ideas
• For our poster we wanted to
link it in with the fact that she
uses her phone to film.
• We wanted to have the poster
as the iPhone camera roll, with
pictures from the film in each
square of the grid.
11. Magazine cover ideas
• We want to keep the magazine cover quite
simple but make it appeal to the target
audience.
• 1 picture is going to be used and this is going
to be of girl and boy outside the house that
they live in whilst at a party.
