4. PRINCIPLES OF THE DIRECT METHOD
1-Classroom instruction are conducted in the target
language.
2-Start with the everyday vocabulary and sentences
during the initial phase; grammar, reading, and writing
are taught during the intermediate phase.
3-Oral communication skills are built up through
question-and-answer exchange with the student.
4-Correct pronunciation and grammar are
emphasized.
5-Student should be speaking approximately 80% of
the time during class.
5. PEDAGOGY
It is another form of the direct method that
breaks down to three (3) key aspects..
1- Introducing the new words, numbers,
alphabet, etc. (referred to as an ELEMENT).
2-Syntax, the correct location of an element
in sentence.
3-Progress, from new element to another
(within the same lesson)..
