  2. 2. What is XAMPP ? XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. XAMPP is really very easy to install and to use – just download, extract and start.

HOW TO INSTALL XAMMP FOR LINUX 1.7.3 <ul><li>First download 1.7.2.tar.gz </li></ul><ul><li>After Downloading the files go to terminal </li></ul><ul><li>We install XAMPP by extracting its content to a folder named “opt” </li></ul><ul><li>Enter the command to extract the Xampp file </li></ul><ul><li>The command is sudo tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.7.2.tar.gz -C /opt </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Start running the xampp </li></ul><ul><li>Enter the following command sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start </li></ul><ul><li>In the terminal the line should be displayed: </li></ul><ul><li>XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP5) </li></ul><ul><li>XAMPP: Starting MySQL… </li></ul><ul><li>XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD… </li></ul><ul><li>XAMPP for Linux started. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Now xampp is installed in your computer </li></ul><ul><li>Create a new database for that go to localhost/xampp </li></ul><ul><li>Choose phpMyAdmin. </li></ul><ul><li>Create your New database </li></ul>

Important Configuration Files And Directories <ul><li>opt/lampp/bin/ – The XAMPP commands home. /opt/lampp/bin/mysql calls for example the MySQL monitor. </li></ul><ul><li>/opt/lampp/htdocs/ – The Apache DocumentRoot directory. </li></ul><ul><li>/opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf - The Apache configuration file </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>/opt/lampp/etc/my.cnf - The MySQL configuration file. </li></ul><ul><li>/opt/lampp/etc/php.ini – The PHP configuration file. </li></ul><ul><li>/opt/lampp/etc/proftpd.conf – The ProFTPD configuration file. (since 0.9.5) </li></ul><ul><li>/opt/lampp/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php – The phpMyAdmin configuration file. </li></ul>

  9. 9. Things You Need to Do to Install WordPress <ul><li>1. Checking to ensure that you and your web host have the minimum requirements to run WordPress. </li></ul><ul><li>2. Download the latest release of WordPress. </li></ul><ul><li>3. Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your hard drive. </li></ul><ul><li>4. Be prepared with a secure password for your Secret Key </li></ul><ul><li>5. Print this page out so you have it handy during the installation. </li></ul>

HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE WORDPRESS <ul><li>Download the wordpress from www.wordpress.org/downloads </li></ul><ul><li>The version 2.8.6 tar.gz is used to download the wordpress </li></ul><ul><li>Download the file in some location </li></ul><ul><li>Then go to the terminals enter the proper command. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>To extract we use some of the followings steps are given in the following </li></ul><ul><li>sudo tar xvfz wordpress 2.8.6 tar.gz -C /opt/lampp/htdocs. </li></ul><ul><li>Extract the downladed wordpress in hostdocs </li></ul><ul><li>Create a new database in myphp from xampp </li></ul><ul><li>In wp-config-sample.php Type the username,password,database name. </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>http://localhost/wordpress From this create a configuration file. </li></ul><ul><li>Click the button let's go </li></ul><ul><li>Click run the installation </li></ul><ul><li>Text the blog title and email </li></ul><ul><li>After that text the username and password and login the page </li></ul><ul><li>Finally your localhost wordprocess is created </li></ul>
