Student Visa Program - Assessment LevelsThis information sheet contains a list of the current Assessment Visa subclass/education sectorLevels for all passports and education sectors in Australia’s There are a number of different types of student visas. TheStudent Visa Program (SVP). These Assessment Levels came following subclasses are based on the education sector of yourinto effect on 24 March 2012 and apply to student visa main course of study:applications made on or after this date.  570 – Independent ELICOSApplying for a Student visa  571 – SchoolsUse the Student (Temporary) (Class TU) visa form if you intend  572 – Vocational Education and Trainingto apply for a Student visa in Australia. You must identify yourhighest Assessment Level before you can proceed with your  573 – Higher Educationstudent visa application.  574 – Postgraduate Research  575 – Non-AwardRefer to information sheet Applying for a student visa, or the  576 – AusAID or DefenceDepartment of Immigration and Citizenship websitewww.immi.gov.au/students for more information about applying Passports NOT listed in the tablefor a student visa. Default Assessment Level 2:Course packaging All students sponsored by AusAID or Defence seekingIf you intend on packaging courses, you will be assessed under Subclass 576 (AusAID or Defence Sector) visas arethe visa subclass applicable to your main course of study (the Assessment Level 2.principal course) indicated on the application, and at the highestAssessment Level of the courses in your nominated package(with the exception of any ELICOS course within the package).
