O meu avô gostava de contar histórias.
Contava sempre alguma coisa, quando eu ia visitá-lo…
Todas as manhãs, dizia ele, atravessava a Praça Grande a correr, para chegar depressa à escola.
No meio da Praça, havia uma estátua grande, de um anjo. Eu nem sequer olhava para ela: tinha de me apressar, porque a minh...
Um dia, quase fui apanhado por um autocarro… embora houvesse então pouco trânsito.
A minha escola ficava longe e o caminho tinha grandes buracos…
… lugares sombrios…
… e gansos ameaçadores.
Mas eu não me assustava. Era muito imprudente. Trepava às árvores mais altas…
… e mergulhava nos lagos mais fundos.
Até com os cães grandes acabava por me entender.
Também tinha colegas que não eram amigos e eu lutava com eles. Por vezes, perdia…
Nunca fui cauteloso. Por isso, não sabia como podia ser perigoso não ter medo.
O meu amigo José sabia e tinha muito mais medo. Num dia qualquer, desapareceu subitamente, e fiquei muito triste.
A par e passo, fui crescendo…
… e tive de enfrentar algumas dificuldades.
Veio a guerra…
… a fome…
… trabalhei em muitos ofícios, bem diferentes…
… enfim, aceitava qualquer coisa, ainda que não fosse lá muito competente.
Aquele ali, com o boné…
Apaixonei-me…
… fui pai…
… construí uma casa… comprei um carro…
… e fui avô.
Na verdade, a minha vida foi bela…
… direi mesmo que foi extraordinária.
Tive muita sorte.
O meu avô ficou cansado e fechou os olhos. Então, saí silenciosamente.
Cá fora, fazia muito calor. Estava um dia cheio de luz!
