The Oued El Khatt River is located in central Western Sahara near the border with Mauritania. It initially flows southwest before turning north after joining with the Oued Zbayra river, then runs north for approximately 200 kilometres before joining the intermittent Saguia al-Hamra river just south of Laayune on the Atlantic coast. The Oued El Khatt River is over 210km in length, often dries up in the summer with very little water, and part of its course passes through the Western Sahara region occupied by Morocco.
