Special Prize: The most innovative location-based Augmented Reality applicationmetaio is looking for innovative ideas and talented partners who will help increating the Augmented City by implementing new and exciting use cases.The winner should be able to create an according concept and storyboard as wellas implement the use case by using the developer API of the metaio platformjunaio or the metaio SDK.The winner will be rewarded with the following licenses:• 1 Commercial license of metaio SDK Pro• 1 Commercial license of metaio Creator• 1 Commercial license of metaio Cloud (12 months, multiple App deployment)The winner will also be promoted by metaio through the accordingcommunication channels

Copernicus –Global Monitoring for Environment and SecurityCopernicus will provide accurate, timely and easily accessibleinformation • To improve the management of the environment • To understand and mitigate the effects of climate change • To ensure safety and security for the European citizens.Copernicus will consist of • Five families of dedicated satellites (Sentinels) specifically for the operational needs of the Copernicus programme. The Sentinels will be launched from 2013. • Missions from other space agencies, called Contributing Missions - already providing a wealth of data for Copernicus services • The in situ Component which focuses on data acquired by a multitude of sensors on the ground, at sea or in the air. ESA App ChallengeThe ESA App Challenge searches for applications ideas for usingCopernicus on mobile devices. • Proposals shall address one or more Copernicus main thematic areas. • The submission of the application should consist of a base app containing info and news on Copernicus • In addition to concepts for new mobile apps it is also possible to submit ideas of how to extend existing apps by adding Copernicus data (e.g. enriching weather apps by providing information on location-based UV- radiation). • Submission is open for all mobile operating systems.PrizeThe winner will be rewarded with a cash prize of EUR 10,000 as wellas the chance to get his idea further developed in one of the sevenESA Business Incubation Centres (BICs). ESA App Challenge – The Winning Idea 2012 ASIGN / GEO PICTURES - Crowdsourced, in-situ visual Copernicus validation• Satellite radar images in urban areas require in-situ verification due to backscatter• In GEO-PICTURES, AnsuR created the smartphone app ASIGN, which captures and sends reliably geo-tagged and time- stamped images to UNOSAT at CERN• Announced on Facebook, the app was successful in helping the UN produce better flood maps during the 2011 © Ansur Thailand floods Customer Benefit ASIGN’s crowdsourced in-situ photos provide for faster, higher quality remote- sensing products that help save lives, property, costs, and infrastructure.
