  1. 1. John Steinbeck’s full name is John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr.  John Steinbeck won the Noble Prize in Literature in 1962.  Steinbeck was married twice in his lifetime. 
  2. 2. In the story Kino and Juana live a good life. They are poor but they are happy. They have a son named Coyotito, he gets stung by a scorpion and needs a doctor. Kino, Juana, and baby Coyotito go to the doctor. They don’t have any money but seek for help. The doctor wants money so they don’t get help. Soon Kino finds the “ Pearl of the world and has plans for his family’s future. They think all their troubles are over but they’re not. Kino needs to sell the pearl but the pearl buyers try to cheat him. Kino wants to go to the city to sell the pearl but he doesn’t know what’s coming his way.
