This presentation will… <ul><li>Be a hands-on experience </li></ul><ul><li>Focus on collaborative learning </li></ul><ul><li>Provide mLearning activities for one thematic unit on “interview skills” but the technologies could be applied to any content or age level </li></ul><ul><li>… Let’s begin! </li></ul>
  4. 4. Texting … using short message service (SMS) is a great way to engage learners!
  5. 5. Take out your cell phone… <ul><li>POLL #1 </li></ul><ul><li>Start a text message to this phone number: 22333 (trust me, it works!) </li></ul><ul><li>Answer this poll </li></ul>

Cell Phone Conferencing <ul><li>Use a conference hosting website such as www.AlwaysFreeConferencing.com or www.FreeConferencePro.com </li></ul><ul><li>Set up an account in advance </li></ul><ul><li>Provide users with the phone number, written directions, and time to call in </li></ul><ul><li>Provide specific discussion guidelines </li></ul><ul><li>Run a practice session to get the sillies out </li></ul>

Take out your cell phones <ul><li>Shoot a video of a neighbor answering the interview question: “What is your name and where are you currently employed?” </li></ul><ul><li>Send the video via MMS or email to: [email_address] </li></ul><ul><li>We can see the uploaded videos at my Flickr account </li></ul><ul><li>Note: I used to use Motionbox for video editing/mixing, but it was acquired by Snapfish and is no longer free. </li></ul>
  18. 19. Phonecasts and Phlogs … stream live to the web or make recordings from your cell phone and post to your blog

Using iPadio to record <ul><li>Set up an account at www.ipadio.com </li></ul><ul><li>Call the ipadio phone number 1-866-488-3946 </li></ul><ul><li>Enter your pin when prompted then speak </li></ul><ul><li>You are streaming live to the internet </li></ul><ul><li>You can play the recording from the website, download the MP3, or embed it in your blog </li></ul><ul><li>Geotag your recordings on Google Maps </li></ul>
