  2. 2. Situation: <ul><li>Nina Hobson, a police officer of 11 years, went undercover to expose the corruption of Leicestershire Constabulary, in Britain. The video footage was taken over 4 months and showed viewers that they are definitely not getting their money’s worth with the tax dollars that go to the police force. This footage showed officers who are sexist, incompetent, and accuse a girl who was raped of asking for it. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Objective: <ul><li>Change the negative perspectives of the police force that the public has gained from the release of this video </li></ul>
  4. 4. Target Audience: <ul><li>The people of this community </li></ul><ul><li>People of surrounding communities </li></ul><ul><li>All of those individuals outraged by this recent revelation. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Strategy: <ul><li>Punish all those involved in these disgraceful acts </li></ul><ul><li>Implement a new system so that these issues never arise again </li></ul><ul><li>Give a formal, public apology to the town and those victimized </li></ul>
  6. 6. Tactics: <ul><li>Fire all of those officers caught on the tape </li></ul><ul><li>Make mandatory educational sessions for the policemen which center around sexism in the workplace </li></ul><ul><li>Set up cameras in the station as well as in patrolling cars. All of these should include audio recording as well </li></ul><ul><li>Change rules on protocol for dealing with rape victims, to make sure they are treated right </li></ul>
  7. 7. Timetable: <ul><li>- 3 months to clear the name of the force </li></ul><ul><li>- 2 years to make sure that newly implemented rules are followed to assure that it does not happen again </li></ul>
  8. 8. Methods of Evaluation: <ul><li>Monitor TV news coverage, blogs, and internet to see what is being said about the police force after the campaign </li></ul><ul><li>Consistently check in with the station to make sure that rules are being constantly enforced </li></ul>
  9. 9. Source Credibility: <ul><li>To assure credibility to campaign, I would have all statements done by an outside party. This will be a woman and she will help to reinstate legitimacy to the police force, seeing as she has no interest in lying. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Cognitive Dissonance: <ul><li>To erase the illusion that cops are dishonest and violent I would get them involved in activities that make them more trustworthy/respectful figures </li></ul><ul><li>This would include community service and charity events </li></ul>
  11. 11. The Flow of Opinion: <ul><li>To make sure that those who don’t watch TV or read the newspaper are still reached, I would have a mass-mailing of an informational flyer that states what is being done to make sure that this never happens again. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Suggestions for Action: <ul><li>To make those in the community realize that every person makes a difference and can assist with change, I would include in the flyer a hotline number. It will stress the fact that all recommendations for change will be considered and the most commonly stated WILL be implemented. </li></ul>
