3. LOCATION
• The location of our shoot needs to fit in with the time
period of our short film. As our film is set in a ancient
Britain setting and will involve vikings we feel the best
place to shoot this would be along a river that has
remained undeveloped to give the impression of and
untouched area which will add to the Mise-en-scene.
• Our location needs to be relatively close and needs to
be free of any trip hazards.
5. Target Audience
• Our targeted audience for this is the Teen
and Young Adult group
• They are the ones that will be interested in
this genre of film
• Also the audience will mainly be Male as it
is a film about war in the olden times
having a 12 century feel to it and so it is a
mainly masculine topic
• It will be promoted for PayforView TV and
in Cinemas and so the upper class will be
the ones accessing it the most
6. Style
• This is a Horror/Historical genre also there is
action involved
• It will be a very dark and cold sequence
• Also it is going to be a Mysterious sequence
as you do not see who is running or getting
chased and the audience won’t know what is
happening
• It will also be a type of War Sequence as the
Vikings have their swords and armour
8. BREAKDOWN OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE
• Opening shot of black screen, opening credits, text appears
calmly and disappears calmly
• Brief wooden Rowing blade breaking through the water, filmed
using a Go Pro camera
• Black screen, showing our company, Pipe productions
• Worm eye shot from the ground showing muddy area/field
• Man runs past, still shown from muds perspective, emphasising
speed and desperation within the man's emotions as he steps in
the mud.
9. • Man is clearly a prisoner, hands tied, cut and bloodied, wearing
clothing typical of the time setting.
• Black screen credit scene
• People better dressed, also in clothing relative to the time period jump
off a boat onto the land and run. Showing only their legs.
• Black screen credit scene
• Shows the same two people running though the same worm eye shot
shown earlier.
• Black screen credit scene
10. • Camera goes back to prisoner, from the front, camera
shakes with his movements while only showing
different parts of his body ie, arms, lower face... and
not his whole face.
• Hissing sound of an arrow is heard
• Screen cuts to black showing title
11. • Man shown lying face down in the mud, face turned to
look into the camera, clearly dead from the expression
on his face as blood slowly trickles down his face.
• voice over is heard from the man saying something like
"my name is ... this is my story" (this is a possibility to
be decided at a latter date)
12. Synopsis of the film
Synopsis: a brief summary or general
survey of something.
The synopsis of this opening credit scene, is of a
prisoner viking running through the mud across the
river bank away from his capturers. He is escaping
through a multitude of pour weather and dirty, muddy
and wet fields and a slippery riverside embankment.
You only see this mans face at the last minute, the time
of his death whereby this should give the idea of a cliff
hanger to the audience.
13. Music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shDNaFhPiJY
The music we have decided to incorporate into our
media piece, is an orchester piece. This is important as
we would like to keep it in the modem of the times, with
violen and hand played intruments a little bit like the
musical instruments played in that time and era.
300 Violin Orchestra-Jorge Quintero is the tune we
have decided to use.
