  3. 3. WHO ARE THE BASQUE PEOPLE? Geography:Basque, or Euskaldunak, are member of a people who live in both Spain and France, in areas bordering the Bay of Biscay and encompassing the western foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains.

WHO ARE THE BASQUE PEOPLE II?Language: Euskara.- Unlike most European languages, Basque cannot be classified as a Indo-European language.-Little is known about its origins, but it is believed to be one ofthe oldest languages in Europe being present before thearrival of Indo-European languages to thearea. Examples:

HOW DID THE BASQUE END UP INNEVADA? Brief historical facts: Basque presence dates back to late16th Century Biggest Basque migration to the United States from 1880 to 1924 (Immigration Act).- Mainly employed in the sheep herding industry.- Migration to the American West.- After WWII, due to labor shortage, approval of private laws that allowed minor immigration. Life of sheepherders: Amerikanuak (Nacho Reig and Gorka Bilbao)
