Design Your Boy’s Room to Match His Airplane Bedding
For your little pilot’s imagination to start soaring to new heights, airplane-themed
bedding may not be enough. If your son is thrilled by the thought of flying airplanes and
helicopters, here are some inexpensive ideas to bring his fantasies to life right in his own
bedroom.
Start by painting the walls and the ceiling. Make sure to take out all furniture and bedding
outside the bedroom before applying the paint. This will help prevent accidental paint
spills on these items. You should also cover the floor with newspapers to avoid drops of
paint from trickling down to the floor.
A light shade of blue is the perfect color for an aviation-themed bedroom since blue is the
color of the sky. There are many inexpensive and easy-to-apply brands in the market, and
you can choose to apply the paint yourself to ease up on your budget. To make it look
more realistic, dip a sponge or a clean rag in white paint and dab it on the ceiling and
walls in swirling motions to create clouds. However, if your schedule does not allow you
to wait for the paint to dry, you can buy sky blue wallpapers to go together with your
airplane theme.
For older boys, you can use a light gray color with red and blue stripes applied in the
right places to make it look like a real plane. Visit your local hobby store with your son.
There are many items that he may like to have placed on his wall, such as airplane posters
and decals, or perhaps a propeller-shaped clock and a wall fan. To avoid overdoing the
airplane theme, you can also opt for posters of rockets, blimps, hot-air balloons,
parachutes, or sky-divers.
For fathers, you can try out a new hobby by building model airplanes. This activity not
only provides quality time for you and your little man, you can also use the finished
product to display in his airplane-themed bedroom. Use fishing wire to tie your model
airplanes and hang them on hooks installed on the ceiling. The fishing wire makes the
airplanes look as though they were actually suspended in mid-air.
If your son made a model airplane that he is very proud of, show him your support. Put
the masterpiece model inside a Plexiglass box and place it on an important pedestal such
as his bedside table. It may even become a collector’s item someday.
Shelves are a very convenient place to display your son’s model airplanes toy airplanes.
Keep in mind, however, that curious toddler boys will put anything they can in their
mouths. To prevent this and other accidents from happening, it might be advisable for
you to glue these little pieces to the shelf. You can also place storybooks with airplane
themes on the shelves. Not only do these books accentuate the bedroom’s overall design,
it also helps in teaching your son to love reading at an early age.
2. Finally, you can take your son to an air show and take pictures of you and him with the
show in the background. Display these photographs in picture frames for a creative way
of personalizing your son’s bedroom.
