  2. 2. OBESITY : A SERIOUS ISSUE! <ul><li>- 16% of Teens are Overweight. </li></ul><ul><li>This is double the % than 25 years ago. </li></ul><ul><li>Obesity causes high risks in diseases such as Diabetes Type 2, heart disease, & high blood pressure. </li></ul>
  3. 3. HOW TO CHANGE OUR WAYS! <ul><li>Cut out the fast food. Even their salads are unhealthy. </li></ul>
  4. 4. HOW TO CHANGE OUR WAYS! <ul><li>Eat a well – balanced diet. We were all taught the food pyramid! Eat the recommended amount of each, fruits, meats, grains, veggies, dairy, and sweets! </li></ul>
  5. 5. HOW TO CHANGE OUR WAYS! <ul><li>Eating a well-balanced diet is important. But so is portion control! Eat your veggies and fruits, but also you can eat your sweets too! Try eating an oatmeal raisin cookie instead of a chocolate chip and only eat one or two, instead of a plateful! </li></ul>
  6. 6. HOW TO CHANGE OUR WAYS! <ul><li>Get Outside & Play! </li></ul><ul><li>Just 30 minutes a day of moderate to intense play can keep you feeling good and in shape. If you are trying to lose weight, try an hour a day and increase the intensity! </li></ul><ul><li>This can include running, brisk walking, playing football, basketball, ultimate frisbee, jump roping, and so much more! </li></ul><ul><li>Remember to much intensity can result in injury! </li></ul>
  7. 7. HOW TO CHANGE OUR WAYS! <ul><li>Feel Good About Yourself! </li></ul><ul><li>Have a positive outlook on getting healthy, not looking a certain way ! =] </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t focus on the long term outcome, but on how you are getting healthier by the day! </li></ul>
