  35. 35. Advantages  Flexibility in terms of work hours, break time, location, temperature, lighting, music, etc.
  36. 36. Advantages  Doing other things you enjoy while working  Music trip  Eat and chat with your friends  Travel
  37. 37. Advantages  Maximize your time to earn money.  Save on many hidden costs associated with going to work – commuting, wardrobe, childcare, etc.
  38. 38. Advantages  Less stress – traffic jam during rush hours, unfriendly co-workers, a suboptimal work environment, constant distractions  Better health; better work/life balance
  39. 39. Disadvantages  Distractions. Interruptions from children, work, neighbors, friends, family may be very disruptive and special efforts must be made to make it known that you are actually working and unavailable for interruption within work hours.
  40. 40. Disadvantages  Isolation. You will have limited person to talk to.  No help or support (from IT personnel, for example)
  41. 41. Disadvantages  Job security. Sometimes, clients will end your contract immediately with some lame reasons. Most of online jobs offer project- based only.  Scammed! Didn't received the payment.  Usually no employment benefits.
  42. 42. Disadvantages  Need for high self-discipline. It takes a lot of dedication, self-control and discipline to motivate yourself to persevere in working at home alone over the long run without succumbing to the distractions and losing drive and momentum.
  43. 43. How to kick-start your career in digital media
  44. 44. 1. Be eager to learn.  The digital marketing industry is both fast growing and incredibly competitive. This industry requires passion and a desire to succeed.
  45. 45. 2. Stay updated.  You need to keep on top of industry news by following major digital marketing sites and influential people on social media.
  46. 46. 3. Networking  Surround yourself with people more talented than yourself.  Attend industry meetups and conferences in your area to nurture relationships with other digital marketers and enhance your skill set through in-depth workshops and presentations.
  47. 47. 4. Personal Projects  Try out your own ideas and don’t just treat industry leaders’ opinions as gospel.
  48. 48. 5. Learn the terminology  Digital marketers needs to be comfortable with acronyms such as PPC, SEM and SEO.
  49. 49. 6. Build your personal brand  If you want to show to an employer that you can build their company’s visibility then you need to show that you can firstly build your own personal brand.
  50. 50. 7. Be a T-Shaped Marketer  As a term commonly used by Rand Fishkin of Moz, it refers to having a basic understanding of multiple marketing disciplines but specialising in one or two particular skills.
  51. 51. 8. Get Nerdy  Digital marketing is often more technical and data-driven then we would care to admit. A basic knowledge of HTML and graphic design would help to make you stand out among the less technically-minded candidates.
  52. 52. 9. Metrics are King  If you want to set yourself apart in an interview, talk about the return on ad spend for a campaign you’ve run yourself. It’s easy to talk about an exciting creative concept you’ve helped to develop but the fact remains… money talks.  You really need to understand how each marketing channel has performed and what the key learnings have been.
  53. 53. 10. Get Certified  If you really want to stand out from your peers in the industry, completing a certified digital marketing course will help.
  54. 54. How to Improve Your Personal Brand: Stronger Personal Brand as Online Resume
  55. 55. Have an online presence.  You should be present enough on the web that employers can easily find your LinkedIn profile, content you have created, your Twitter account, or your personal web page just by typing your name into Google.
