Accomplishments
• Winner of the Silver Syringe Award from the Nevada Immunization Coalition for the most
improved vaccination rates
• Presenting case studies to Corporate Human Resources regarding the use of Quantiferon for
new employees and for present employees who meet certain criteria
• Presentation to Corporate regarding the use of respirators for employees who cannot be
conventionally fit tested
• Work with the Valley Health System Infection Control Committee Co -Chair Dr. Mallela on topics
such as immunizations and titers for health care employees
• Introduction of and education for chlorhexidine bathing in the Intensive Care Units
• Author and winner of the Grant from the State of Nevada on the elimination of multi-drug
resistant organisms in the health care setting.
• Organizing and coordinating the Patient Safety Fair 2011
• Community outreach – Senior Advantage - topics H1N1 and Nevada Lockbox
• March of Dimes Nurse of the Year for Infection Control and Employee Health 2011
• Successfully passed Joint Commission Survey 2013 for infection control without deficiencies in a
457 bed facility
• President of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC)
Southern Nevada Chapter from 2012 through 2014
• Grants written and accepted in 2011 and 2012 to be used for education for staff and the
community from APIC during International Infection Prevention Week.
• 2013 Leadership award presented to the APIC Chapter for our commitment to infection control
• Published in July 2013 Improving Patient Safety through Education and Communication.
• Coordinated the effort of reviewing questions and resources for the current issue of the
competency study guide used to prepare for Infection Prevention Certification. Credit given to
our APIC chapter in the acknowledgement section.
