Coastal Landforms

 1. 1. Coastal Landforms – Erosion
 2. 2. Last lesson…

We learned how the coast can be eroded by the waves and the environment in different ways

This lesson…

We will find out what the erosion does to the coast – the landforms

 3. 3.

The coast is made up of both hard and soft rocks

Softer rock erodes more rapidly than harder rocks

This leaves a bay

Harder rock remains as a headland – exposed and vulnerable

 4. 5.

The sea and weather attack the rock in the same way

Cracks in the headland grow larger and larger, eventually forming a cave

 5. 6.

With time, the cave gets eroded all the way though

 6. 7.

Eventually, the arch collapses, leaving stacks

These erode further to become stumps
