  1. 1. Celebrating Christmas in Scotland door every day from the 1st to the 24th December. On the second Sunday of Advent we remember Mary and Joseph travelling to Bethlehem. Preparing for Christmas: On the first Sunday of Advent we light the first candle on the Advent wreath at Church, and this reminds us of the prophets pointing the way to Bethlehem. We make Christingles during Children’s liturgy and carry them up to the altar during the Mass. At school we perform a Nativity play and some Children play the parts of Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds, Wise Men and Angels, and some even play camels and sheep. On the third Sunday of Advent candle is pink and we remember the shepherds and Mary. All the candles are purple apart from this one and the white one. The orange represents the world. The red ribbon represents the blood of Christ. The lighted candle represents the light of the world. The four sticks with sweets represent the four seasons. We have an Advent Calendar which is a countdown to Christmas and we open a
  2. 2. We have a Christmas party at school, and a special school Christmas dinner. We learn Christmas Carols, and go Carol Singing to hospitals and Care Homes for Elderly People. At home, we put up a Christmas tree which we decorate with tinsel and baubles, and on the top we put a star. We put up a crib with figures of Mary and Joseph and the Baby Jesus. The candle for Christmas Eve is white. On The fourth Sunday of advent we light a candle for the wise men. The Last Few Days Merry Christmas From Primary Five! On Christmas Eve we go to Church for Midnight Mass. On Christmas Eve we put out our pillow cases and snacks for Santa and his reindeer. On Christmas morning we open all our presents from Santa.
