(i.e. basic qualifications: GPA, TOEFL/IELTS/ Other foreign language test scores e.g. DaF, Educational background) </li></ul>

Being PROACTIVE is another key </li></ul><ul><li>DON’T: wait until the information reaches you… this won’t happen that much! </li></ul><ul><li>DO: Consult experts (previous scholarship holders or institutions/bureaus/ agencies) </li></ul><ul><li>DON’T: Ask them to DO what you have to do (i.e. finding the field of study, formulating motivation statement etc.) </li></ul>

C: Challenge Yourself- Application <ul><li>READ the requirements: Are you what they are looking for? </li></ul><ul><li>Make a checklist of what you have to submit in order to apply for the scholarships/ programmes </li></ul><ul><li>Download the forms and fill them in: BE IMPRESSIVE! </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare the necessary documents to be attached </li></ul><ul><li>If you have to write a CV and motivation letter/ statement, take time to draft and edit </li></ul><ul><li>Proofread your forms, CV & motivation letter/ statement </li></ul><ul><li>Re-check your checklist (see point 2 above) before sending your application package. </li></ul>

Interview D-E-F <ul><li>Demonstrating your competences, i.e. esp. foreign language skills </li></ul><ul><li>Emphasizing on your knowledge, i.e. concerning your study choice, the country & university, knowledge of the world </li></ul><ul><li>Finding out more about you, i.e. your personal information, personal qualities (e.g. leadership), motivation, future plans (rechecking your application!) </li></ul>

What if… you are accepted cont. <ul><li>Joining student organizations such as PPI or the International Student Organization at the University </li></ul><ul><li>In addition: </li></ul><ul><li>Some cash (for first month survival) in case the lump sum of the scholarships cannot be transferred to you immediately </li></ul><ul><li>Last but not least: MENTALLY PREPARED! </li></ul>
