With this online resource, you have all the data you need at your fingertips, and you can access it from any pc with an internet connection. The user interface is easy to understand, the data is continuously updated and there is no need to worry about system upgrades: we do that for you. Drawing on a wide range of data, Local Knowledge supports a variety of research, policy and marketing applications. Data is held at different spatial levels and an interactive toolkit brings it to life, providing powerful visual outputs. Drawing on an extensive database of published and proprietory data, Place Insight helps users to analyse regional and local conditions. It provides all the content, tools and methodologies necessary to create comprehensive analysis of economic, social and environmental conditions.

Data is drawn from 130 nationally recognised sources, together with unique Local Futures indicators Content is held at a regional, sub- regional, Local Authority District, ward and neighbourhood level Powerful 'search engines' allow users to quickly locate data and generate outputs

The tools are quick and easy to use and provide graphical outputs for use in reports and presentations.

These allow the characteristics of individual areas to be compared with neighbouring areas or regional and national averages. All indicators in Local Knowledge have national coverage.

Displaying groups of indicators Local Knowledge also contains a range of tools for analysing groups of indicators and identifying interrelationships. These include cross- tabulations, scatter charts and profiling applications. To simplify analysis Local Knowledge highlights headline indicators related to specific themes. Profiles for different areas can be quickly compared or statistical nearest neighbours identified.

The findings are presented as Report Cards, with A-E summary scores telling a ‘story of place’ on a range of economic, social and environmental themes. Report cards can be created at a range of different spatial levels – region, sub-region, district, ward – for any place in the country

Using consistent time series data, the change application allows underlying trends to be quickly identified and compared with regional and national performance.

Data Data coverage allows a comprehensive analysis of places, with indicators organised in three broad categories and twenty sub- categories. Local Knowledge contains over 1,500 indicators with national coverage. For each sub-category we provide headline indicators and a composite score, for use in our overall analysis of place.

The data can be analysed using the system’s easy-to-use toolkit, alongside our own data. Two types of data can be included: Thematic data: locally sourced indicators can be added at a variety of spatial levels, from district through to ward and neighbourhood level. Examples of thematic data include crime rates and fear of crime. Cosmetic data: point or polygon data can also be included and viewed within the mapping application. Examples of cosmetic data include the location of schools, GP surgeries and land holdings.

Acxiom is one of the world’s leading marketing services and data companies. Data is derived from their research opinion poll, which is collected half-yearly and has a sample of over one million respondents. Indicators are available for sub-regions down to lower level super output areas or output areas. Hometrack is the UK’s leading provider of residential property and housing information. Hometrack supply high quality data for use by local authorities and property developers. Data packs can be supplied as an add-on to an annual subscription. The data can be viewed alongside our current data and accessed using our range of analytical tools.
