  3. 3. Project development . <ul><li>1928. Idea to construct a building that would be designated especially for library functions arises for the first time </li></ul><ul><li>1988. Council of Ministers of LPSR passes decision on construction of the National Library of Latvia building </li></ul><ul><li>1993. Architect G.Birkerts develops the first sketch of the NLL building </li></ul><ul><li>1999. General Council of UNESCO passes resolution on supporting the NLL project </li></ul><ul><li>2003. Law on the NLL project is ratified </li></ul><ul><li>2004. Expropriation of the real estate located on the future NLL building site begins and architectural planning task is received </li></ul><ul><li>2006. One section of the NLL project is finished – the NLL book storage in Silakrog s is renovated and put into operation </li></ul><ul><li>2007. The construction design of the NLL building is developed </li></ul><ul><li>2008. Construction works of the NLL building commence </li></ul><ul><li>2009. Building ’s zero cycle is finished. The infrastructure project of the NLL building is developed </li></ul>
