The press release below has some of the details, but this story really starts three years ago, when we became the agency of record for The Woodlands Development Company. For Immediate Release: JOHN MANLOVE MARKETING TO PROMOTE TOURISM IN THE WOODLANDS Starting in 2009, The Woodlands CVB entrusts marketing to JMMC October 6, 2008 – The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau (TWCVB) has named John Manlove Marketing & Communications (JMMC) its new marketing agency of record. JMMC will now help TWCVB drive leisure and tourism traffic to the No. 1 master-planned community in Texas. After an RFP process that began in late May, TWCVB’s marketing committee unanimously chose JMMC based on its creative and media capabilities, as well as specific marketing tactics and ads developed as part of the RFP. They showed creative talent, marketing experience, strategic thinking and just plain effort — they left an impression. We’re very excited to start working with them.” “We couldn’t be more excited,” said Gina Manlove, vice president of JMMC. “As a destination, there is a lot to work with — our creative staff had a great time developing ads for all media. This is a dream account for us.” The Woodlands has more than 5 million square feet of retail space and more than 1,400 hotel rooms. (For comparison, Houston’s Uptown District, including all of the Galleria, has about 5 million square feet of shopping and dining.) The Woodlands also benefits from the “green” vision behind its original master plan. Visitors can access 110 different outdoor parks and 162 miles of biking and walking trails. On average, 78 percent of shoppers at The Woodlands Mall and Market Street come from outside the area. Altogether, tourism is a $1.7 billion business in The Woodlands. (Both statistics come from a 2008 study by The Perryman Group.)
