3. This is an example of
creativity. Someone has
made a soda bottle into a
beautiful decorative art
item. Creative ideas are
novel and original ideas.
CREATIVITY = NOVEL IDEAS
4. This is an example of
innovation – the
implementation of
something new. Someone has
made something useful out
of a soda bottle. Innovative
ideas are novel as well as
have a practical application.
INNOVATION = NOVEL IDEAS + PRACTICAL APPLICATION
5. A soda bottle light uses a 2
liter soda bottle filled with
clean water to harness
sunlight and provide no-cost
lighting in rural areas.
Creativity leads to implementation. Innovation requires it.
9. Often, in common parlance, the
words creativity and innovation are
used interchangeably. They shouldn’t
be, because while creativity implies
coming up with ideas, ‘it’s the
bringing ideas to life’ . . . that makes
innovation the distinct undertaking it
is.
