    Yes, all of these issue are manageable and can be effectively mitigated. The key is getting a holistic view of the entire open social universe and speed. Most first generation tools that rely on social samples and keywords can deliver 'buzz,' but cannot effectively identify threats to the level major corporations require.

    You make a good point on threats against personnel and property. We've personally seen an increase in this for our clients against executives and facilities, particularly from growing activist movements. Thanks for the insightful comment.

  • This is a good list and not at all alarmist. I would like to add that any company with a well managed social listening program (or a good listening vendor who understands your business) can get to grips with all of these issues to help build strategies and guidelines to manage or even cut off a lot of headaches before they develop. Listening and understanding is the key to successful engagement.

    One other thing not on the list: Threats of violence against people or property.
